RESUMEN
La bronquiolitis que es una enfermedad inflamatoria de la vía aérea periférica, afecta al bronquiolo terminal y respiratorio; entidad que por lo general se encuentra presente en una amplia gama de entidades de causa conocida, así como desconocida. La bronquiolitis puede ser de tipo inflamatorio o proliferativa, cicatrizal o constrictiva, la primera en general responde al manejo antiinflamatorio; sin embargo, su forma cicatrizal tiende a progresar y causar serios trastornos funcionales y se asocia a un mal pronóstico en la evolución, esta revisión se centra a las causas más comunes como son las enfermedades colágeno-vasculares, medicamentos, postinfecciosas, y a los datos más relevantes en su estudio, como son los métodos de imagen, en especial a la tomografía computada de alta resolución (TCAR), donde los hallazgos tomográficos han logrado identificar y sugerir el diagnóstico aun sin un examen morfológico.
