ABSTRACT

Introduction: The thoracic ultrasonography (USG) is complementary to other imaging methods and is indicated in pleural, pulmonary and mediastinals pathologies. It serves also as guide of invasive procedures as thoracentesis and transthoracic biopsy (PTT). Let’s sense beforehand this series of patients with pulmonary and mediastinals tumours which PTT guided by USG was practised. Patients and methods: PTT was practised 30 patients who were presenting thoracic lesions visible to the ultrasound. Eighteen (60%) was men; the age changed between 21 and 84 years. Eighteen (60%) was right and 11 (36.6 %) ambulatory. Results: In 90% of cases histological diagnosis was established, predominating over the malignancy (56.6%). There was a serious complication, a pneumothorax. Discussion: The USG is an inestimable tool for the pulmonologist. His utilization and managing are simple to dominate with the practice. We initiate approaching the pleural effusions and we acquire experience up to fulfilling PTT in thoracic tumours. Result is comparable to other series. It urges the interventional pulmonologists to familiarize with this method.
