ABSTRACT
Aortic dissection due to trauma is not frequent. In patients presenting with blunt trauma, timely diagnosis and treatment of this type of lesion is very important. The following is a clinical case of a 27 year old patient after suffering a head-on motor vehicle accident. She was transferred by emergency medical technician personnel to Hospital Central Cruz Roja Mexicana, appearing upon arrival hemodinamically stable, with multisystemic trauma. Diagnosis of aortic dissection was made with clinical and radiologic suspicion, corroborating with angiotomography during the first 24 hours of admission. During hospital stay the patient did not deteriorate and was transferred to a third level cardiology center where she received definitive treatment successfully.
