Right ventricular dysfunction in acute pulmonary embolism
Luis Efrén Santos Martínez
ABSTRACT
In this review of right ventricular dysfunction in acute pulmonary embolism, the entity was view as a global entity, since knowledge of right ventricular anatomy and physiology, until physiopathology and clinical presentation. The frequency and the mortality of acute and massive pulmonary embolism were studied first. Massive pulmonary embolism as a cause of hemodynamic deterioration and mortality were described. Previously to understand the ventricular dysfunction origin and its physiopathology, the right ventricular anatomy and physiology with emphasis on right ventricular perfusion were approach. The right ventricular dysfunction classification is analyzed, previous to allocate the subjects to organized groups to their hemodynamics and echocardiographics parameter. The mortality frequency is showed associated to right ventricular dysfunction and those with biochemical markers of right ventricular ischemia. Finally, clinical presentation, electrocardiographical and echocardiographical signs associated to this entity, were mentioned.KEYWORDS
