ABSTRACT
Objective: To determine the effects of active coping strategies on burnout syndrome. Material and methods: This is a transversal descriptive study based on a quota simple of 500 health workers. The Human Services version of the Maslach Burnout Inventory questionnaire was applied in order to evaluate three aspects of this problem: emotional fatigue, depersonalization, and personal fulfillment. To measure coping strategies, the Instrument for Coping with Extreme Risks was utilized. Results: The use of active coping strategies (problem-solving, search for information, analysis of circumstances to increase performance effectiveness) exercise protective effects against the presence of burnout syndrome among health workers.
