ABSTRACT
Following a theoretical research line about the limits of the scientific knowledge in Medicine and Evidence Based Medicine, here it is proposed the description of an uncertainty phenomenon or uncertainty syndrome. It is called this way because its formal similarities with de uncertainty principle proposed by Heisenberg to understand Quantum Mechanics. The nature of the phenomenon is described by the use of two disease models and the knowledge we have about them: Smallpox and the postgastrectomy postvagotomy syndromes. At last, a generic arithmetic inequality is proposed for further analysis of the degree of scientific knowledge we can reach on any diagnostic or therapeutic measure.
