ABSTRACT

Benign lesions producing tracheal-bronchial obstruction may generate a high mortality on the affected patients. Laryngeal papillomatosis is considered as being the most common benign neoplasia in the pediatric population and young adults. The diagnosis is carried out through direct seeing, laryngoscopy and fibrobronchoscopy, taking a sample for biopsy. In spite of the fact that this surgical treatment is the best method to be practiced, most of the patients require the use of helping substances. From these last ones, alpha-interferon and cidofovir have been employed. We present here a case of juvenile laryngeal papillomatosis and its good response to the resection with ND-YAG laser beam and the intralesion application of cidofovir.
