Code of conduct for reviewers
Reviewers of manuscripts submitted to Neumología y Cirugía de Tórax (NCT) are committed to adhering to and acting in accordance with the principles of responsibility, integrity, confidentiality, impartiality, and objectivity, and shall perform their review duties with absolute transparency.
Any potential conflicts of interest must be disclosed.
- Editors and reviewers must be aware that the use of generative artificial intelligence in manuscript review may constitute a breach of confidentiality terms. For more information: ICMJE: Use of artificial intelligence in the review process
- Reviewers must request authorization from the Editor-in-Chief if they wish to use artificial intelligence tools to review manuscripts.
- Reviewers for NCT are committed to upholding the principles of confidentiality, courtesy, timeliness, objectivity, impartiality, responsibility, integrity, and fairness.
- Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts based on originality, timeliness, relevance, clarity, transparency, appropriateness, scientific contribution, adherence to ethical principles, and methodological quality.
- Reviewers must report to the Editor-in-Chief any suspicion of misconduct by the authors, including:
- Plagiarism
- Non-compliance with international ethical standards in the conduct of research
- Data fragmentation
- Manipulation, falsification, or misappropriation of data, figures, tables, or images
- Use of materials without permission from the intellectual author
- Duplicate or redundant publication
- Manipulation of citations, including unjustified self-citation
- Omission of relevant information
- Manipulation of the authorship list
